Suburb Overview

Alexandra Hills is a suburb of 16,985 people located in Redland City, south east of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Alexandra Hills sits between two major areas of Redlands, with Cleveland to the east and Capalaba to the west. Best known for the Squeeze Club.

Many community organisations are based in Alexandra Hills

Alexandra Hills State High School is by far the largest high school in the Redlands. It is located on Windemere Road and is adjacent to the TAFE. The school is also the home of 136 Army Cadet Unit - City of Redlands.

Windemere Road Park is the most developed park in Alexandra Hills. The most recent addition has been a climbing wall. It also hosts a flying fox, skate/bike bowl, basketball court and an off the leash area for dogs. The park itself stretches from Windemere Road to Cumberland Drive.

The George Street and Hanover Drive Parks also have dog offleash areas and there is a trial area in Valantine Park.

Alexandra Hills is also known for accommodating the popular McGuire's owned venue 'The Alexandra Hills Hotel' or colloquially known as simply 'The Alex'. The hotel is situated on the outer edges of Alexandra Hills almost bordering nearby suburbs Wellington Point and Cleveland. The appearance of the exterior can be described as looking akin to a large Queenslander style house whereas the interior retains the feel of a contemporary and cosmopolitan bar. The venue offers a wide variety of services to the community including function rooms, bar facilities, wedding receptions, accommodation, restaurant catering and nightclubbing experiences. Although it supplies these range of services to the people of Redlands it is more notriously known and predominantly used as a venue to consume alcohol. The hotel is also home to a weekend nightclub known as the 'Squeeze Club' or commonly as 'The Pit', the latter of the two is much more widely used. It is located on the top level of the Hotel and contains two bars, a large dancefloor, state of the art DJ booth and many lounge styled areas on the outskirts of the dance floor.
